Although the U.S. government finally approved the export of NVIDIA H200 GPU to China, there are rumors that no Chinese customers purchased it, and NVIDIA had to stop production. However, at the GTC 2026 conference,In an interview, Huang Renxun confirmed that NVIDIA has obtained H200 export licenses for many Chinese customers, obtained purchase orders, and resumed production.

He said: "(NVIDIA) has received purchase orders from multiple Chinese customers and we are restarting production...the supply chain is starting."
Huang Renxun called it "new news." This marks the first time that NVIDIA's supply chain in China has resumed operation to a certain extent after more than a year of export control freezes.
Of course, Huang Renxun cannot reveal which specific Chinese customers are. He also mentioned,Trump’s position is consistent, insisting that the United States should maintain a leading position in the use of NVIDIA’s most advanced technology. He said: "President Trump hopes that we will continue to compete in global markets and not give up (China) these markets unless necessary."
In December last year, Trump announced that he would allow NVIDIA to export H200 to Chinese customers, but required that 25% of sales revenue must be turned over to the U.S. government, and shipments to China should not exceed 50% of U.S. domestic sales.

At the end of February this year, NVIDIA confirmed that it had obtained a small number of H200 export licenses, but did not include any revenue related to the Chinese data center business in its first-quarter sales outlook.
It is said that at the end of January, relevant Chinese authorities approved the purchase of H200 by the three giants Alibaba, Tencent and ByteDance, with a total amount of more than 400,000 yuan. There are also reports that Alibaba and Zijie are preparing to purchase more than 200,000 yuan.
However, it is also said that no Chinese customers actually purchased H200. NVIDIA's discontinuation of H200 shortly afterwards further confirmed this statement.
It is worth mentioning thatNVIDIA did say that the Hopper series of products has been basically discontinued, but in view of the demand from Chinese customers and the green light from the U.S. government, it still hopes to reopen orders for the H200 in 2026.
