Prime Minister Pham Minh Ching urged ministries and local governments to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles, develop charging infrastructure, and promote the use of biofuels to reduce dependence on imported petroleum products and ensure national energy security.

The global situation remains volatile, with recent military conflicts and geopolitical tensions leading to disruptions in the supply of oil, natural gas and coal to the international market, posing an increasingly serious threat to the energy security of many countries, including Vietnam.
Pham Minh Zheng asked Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade to review the conditions for early implementation of the transition roadmap to biofuel E10 next month.
Pham also asked officials to consider pilot applications of hydrogen, ammonia and other low-emission fuels in the manufacturing, energy and transportation sectors.
Pham Minh Ching said Vietnam’s goal is to have at least 50% of public transportation in cities powered by electricity by 2030.
