Google is currently working to turn off the sideloading installation function of the Android system by 2027, which requires users to download and install applications through the Google Play App Store. Google's reason is that the store application can reduce the risk of fraud after being reviewed.

Fraudulent gangs such as Shazhupan often use words to induce or force users to install malicious applications and steal user data. Therefore, Google believes that it is necessary to turn off the Android sideloading function. Google also hopes to promote this policy to the global market in the future.
However, in order to calm the anger of professional players and developers, Google has been modifying the Android sideloading process during this period, which ensures that professional players and developers can still successfully sideload and install applications. However, Google's improvement process may not satisfy users.
The latest modified sideloading process is as follows:
Boot interface: Users need to confirm that they actively request to turn on developer mode without booting.
Delayed take effect: After enabling developer options, you need to restart the system and wait 24 hours for it to take effect.
Unlock verification: Wait 24 hours and then use your fingerprint or PIN again for final verification
Sideload installation: You can then freely sideload and install applications, and a risk confirmation will pop up during installation.
After completing the unlocking of the developer options, the user can choose to enable it for 7 days or permanently when installing the application later. That is, after the 7 days have expired, the unlocking process needs to be repeated, but if the user chooses to enable it permanently, subsequent installations will be more convenient (security warnings will still pop up).
For developers, students and other enthusiasts, Google also provides free distribution accounts. Distribution accounts do not require identity authentication and developer registration fees, and can quickly sideload and install applications on up to 20 devices.
Google said that this can ensure that the Android system remains an open platform for learning and experimentation, while providing stronger security protection for the broader free community. Distribution accounts and advanced processes will be launched starting in August 2026.
