Recently, Pearl Abyss, the developer of the action role-playing game "Red Desert", issued an official statement on social media, responding to the player community's concerns about traces of generative AI in the game.
Previously, players discovered image materials that were suspected to be generated by AI in the final version, causing a lot of heated discussions. Now the developer admitted in a statement that in the early stages of development, the team used AI experimental tools to quickly polish the tone and atmosphere of some 2D visual elements. These materials were originally planned to be replaced by the art department as final content in the later stages.

However, due to internal process errors, some temporary materials accidentally entered the official release version, which was inconsistent with the company's established quality standards. Pearl Abyss takes full responsibility for this issue.
In addition, the company admitted to a lack of transparency - even though the AI was mainly used in the early stages of development, it failed to fully disclose this fact to players. The studio apologized.
Currently, the development team is conducting a comprehensive review of all in-game resources, and the affected materials will be replaced in subsequent updates. At the same time, the company is strengthening internal process standards to ensure that future communication with players is more transparent and consistent.
