According to foreign media reports, Apple is celebrating its upcoming 50th anniversary by holding events around the world, and plans to hold a "grand" closing celebration at its Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California.

In an in-depth profile of John Ternus, Apple's head of hardware engineering, well-known journalist Mark Gurman quoted sources as saying that Apple is preparing an "elaborate 50th birthday party" at the Apple Park, the company's headquarters, and Ternus is expected to play a "center stage" role at the event. Ternus is now widely seen as the top candidate to become Apple's next CEO.
The report did not disclose specific details of the celebration, but it is widely speculated that the event will likely be held under the iconic rainbow arch in the center of Apple Park. Apple will officially celebrate its 50th anniversary on April 1, so the party is expected to be held in the near future. It is unclear whether the celebration will be open only to Apple employees or whether it will include a public aspect through the Apple Park Visitor Center, but it is expected that some media will be invited to attend.
Kicking off a series of 50th anniversary celebrations, Apple arranged a surprise performance by singer Alicia Keys at the Apple Store in Grand Central Terminal in New York earlier this month. Apple has since held similar events in China, South Korea and Thailand, and plans to launch more anniversary events in Australia, Canada, France and the UK in the coming days.
