Recently, a consumer in Fangchenggang, Guangxi, accidentally discovered a broken lamp component sandwiched between the meat patty and vegetables while eating a Wallace Burger, which attracted widespread attention.According to pictures posted by consumers, the foreign objects were glass-encapsulated electronic components with rusty iron wires attached, and were suspected to be old-fashioned diodes or small lamp parts.

The consumer said that after checking the monitoring, the merchant admitted that the foreign object came from a light bulb that fell from the crisper cabinet in the store, and offered a refund. However, the consumer did not accept it and called the 12315 hotline to report it, hoping that the market supervision department would punish the merchant in accordance with the law.

On March 24, the person in charge of the Wallace Fangchenggang Fangcheng store responded that the screenshots of customer service conversations disclosed by consumers were true, but the exact source of the foreign object was still not completely determined. The store was comprehensively verifying the monitoring, operating procedures and equipment status to properly handle the matter.

Previously, some store staff admitted that the foreign object came from the crisp-keeping cabinet in the store, but later said that they were not on duty that day and the details were unclear, reflecting loopholes in the store's internal communication and management.

Food safety is an untouchable red line in the catering industry. Lamp components mixed into food expose the store's obvious omissions in equipment maintenance, food processing protection, and operating regulations.

Such problems not only affect consumers’ dining experience, but also pose health and safety risks.

According to relevant food safety regulations, catering operators are obliged to ensure that the entire food production process is pollution-free, and consumers have the right to complain and assert legitimate rights and interests when encountering foreign matter problems.
