Recently, HBO president Casey Bloys told the London Times that HBO is already developing a second season of the "Harry Potter" series. "The goal is to keep the gaps between episodes as short as possible, you know, especially with the kids growing up, it's not going to be an annual show. The show is so big. But... they're writing the scripts for season two right now."
The "Harry Potter" series will be "faithfully" adapted from J.K. Rowling's seven novels, with each season corresponding to the content of one book. The recently released trailer for the first season shows classic scenes from the first installment of the series, "The Philosopher's Stone," including Harry receiving his Hogwarts acceptance letter, meeting Ron on the Hogwarts Express, and unpacking a Quidditch broomstick. The trailer also quickly flashes Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy, Mr. Ollivander, the Sorting Hat and other characters.
HBO's "Harry Potter" series was filmed at Warner Bros. Leavesden Studios in the UK. The series is helmed by showrunner Francesca Gardner and Succession director Mark Mylord, who directed multiple episodes. Executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman.
The first season of the "Harry Potter" series "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" will premiere on December 25 this year. HBO plans to make seven seasons, one for each book and eight episodes per season.
