As the conflict in the Middle East shows no sign of subside, many Italian airports have issued announcements stating that fuel supplies will be limited in the next few days. According to Notices to Airmen (NOTAM), fuel restrictions have been implemented for flights at Bologna, Milan Linate, Treviso and Venice airports. The relevant notice is valid from April 2 to April 9.

The announcement showed that BP Italia's A1 aviation kerosene supply was tight.

After the conflict in the Middle East broke out, the Strait of Hormuz was de facto blocked, blocking the global supply of crude oil, natural gas, aviation kerosene and other products. The restrictions in Italy are one of the early examples of fuel shortages starting to affect aviation operations in Europe.

Data show that Europe is the main importing region for aviation kerosene (including kerosene) from the Persian Gulf, and the region’s supply accounts for about half of the total imports from the EU and the UK.
