The fuel surcharge for domestic routes will be raised today. Air China, Xiamen Airlines, China United Airlines and many other airlines simultaneously issued announcements clarifying that starting from April 5, 2026, they will adjust the fuel surcharge charging standard for passenger transportation on domestic routes, with a maximum increase of 100 yuan.

Among them, for short-haul flights of less than 800 kilometers (inclusive), each passenger will be charged a fuel surcharge of 60 yuan; for long-haul flights of more than 800 kilometers, each passenger will be charged a fuel surcharge of 120 yuan.Compared with the previous charging standards of 10 yuan and 20 yuan, short-distance and long-distance charges have increased by 50 yuan and 100 yuan respectively, which is a significant increase.
For special groups, airlines have also formulated corresponding preferential charging policies. Infants who enjoy 10% of the ordinary adult fare are exempted from fuel surcharge; children who purchase 50% of the ordinary adult fare, including unaccompanied children, as well as revolutionary disabled soldiers and people's police disabled in the line of duty, are charged half of the adult standard, that is, 30 yuan for a journey less than 800 kilometers (inclusive) and 60 yuan for a journey above 800 kilometers.
The simultaneous increase in fuel surcharges by multiple airlines is a unified adjustment in the domestic civil aviation field. Passengers purchasing domestic air tickets on or after April 5 must pay fuel surcharges according to the new charging standards.
The starting date of the levy is based on the original ticket issuance date. For domestic tickets sold before April 5, even if the itinerary is subsequently changed to after April 5 (inclusive), the fuel surcharge already collected will no longer be refunded, and passengers do not need to pay additional fees.
Generally speaking, the total ticket price = face price (core) + fuel surcharge + airport construction fee + other surcharges/taxes. An increase in fuel surcharge means that the total ticket price will also increase.
