The Passenger Car Association released national passenger car market data for March 2026. There are 19 models with monthly wholesale sales of more than 20,000 units, which is much more than the 8 models in February. The signs of recovery in the auto market are obvious. Judging from the specific list,BYD Song won the first place with 66,989 units and is still the sales leader in the market.
Tesla Model Y ranked second with 55,856 units. Geely Xingyuan, Chery Discovery 06, BYD Seagull, Tesla Model 3 and other models also entered the list.
Among these 19 best-selling models, new energy models account for the vast majority and have become the absolute main force in the market. Only a few fuel vehicles such as Sylphy and RAV4 are on the list. It can be seen that people are increasingly preferring new energy vehicles when buying cars.
Overall domestic passenger car sales also rebounded in March, with wholesale sales of narrowly defined passenger cars reaching 2.378 million units, a month-on-month increase of nearly 60%.The wholesale sales of new energy vehicles were 1.144 million units, a month-on-month increase of more than 50%, and the market penetration rate reached 48.1%.
Export performance was even more outstanding, with 695,000 passenger cars exported in March, a year-on-year increase of over 70%. Among them, 349,000 new energy vehicles were exported, a surge of nearly 140% year-on-year. Cars made in China are becoming more and more popular overseas.
