The United States' Artemis 2 manned mission around the moon was launched on April 1, sending humans to lunar orbit for the first time in more than 50 years. The entire journey lasted 10 days and traveled approximately 1,118,624 kilometers. When the spacecraft and astronauts were on the far side of the moon, the sun was completely blocked by the moon for nearly 54 minutes, forming a total solar eclipse.
