What is MBTI? , its full name is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, which was developed by American Catherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers in the 1940s based on the "Psychological Type" theory of Swiss psychologist Carl Jung.

The function of MBTI is to use 4 letters to summarize your personality and your different psychological preferences when making decisions. This is one of the most widely used personality tools in the world, with more than 300 million people taking the test.

So what is SBTI? It is the community’s deconstruction, funniness and adaptation of the classic MBTI personality test. The full name is Silly Big Personality Test, which literally translates to "Silly Big Personality Test".

The original SBTI test contains a total of 31 life-oriented multiple-choice questions. You only need to spend about 3-5 minutes to complete it. No registration is required and it is completely free.

This test was created by the UP owner of Bilibili @蔛肉儿庄儿. It was originally just a prank to persuade friends to stop drinking, but it took over WeChat, Weibo, and Xiaohongshu overnight.

Many netizens lamented: "Is this 2016 now? In 2026, there can be products that become popular in WeChat Moments." "This level of popularity has not been seen on the Internet for a long time."

However, there is no mysterious technology behind SBTI. It is vibe coding, an "amateur work" that even uses Cloudflare free version for the server and pays for the domain name out of pocket.

The fission of SBTI

In the past, the MBTI test was divided into i person and e person. The way to recharge is to be alone or with others. It sounds a bit formal and a little stylish. However, the SBTI has just stopped pretending. Whatever words are the most depressing, decadent, dark and heart-wrenching, I will comment on the netizens:

Self-attacker IMSB: There are so many inner dramas, self-denial before encounters, and always feel that one is not good enough;

JOKE-R: He fills the atmosphere with his comedy, hides his sadness in his jokes, smiles and then falls silent;

FUCK: On the surface, he may be shouting and being startled, but in fact, he is sober inside and doesn't like to meddle in other people's business.

Money giver: ATM-er: Always giving away time, energy, patience and emotional value, habitually giving others the benefit of the doubt.

Other personality tests are all about praising people, but this SBTI strips them down to the hilt.

Netizens summed it up well: MBTI asks: "What kind of gifted personality are you?"

What SBTI asks is: "Which kind of 'human tragedy' do you belong to?"

Before SBTI quickly hit the screen, we didn't realize how strong people's demand was for "how to tell others who I am without pretending to be self-conscious."

I can’t catch you and lean into your ear and tell you in a hasty manner that I am a cynical, dark and resentful person who has no big ideals and just wants to live in peace at home. But I can take advantage of this atmosphere where everyone is pouting about the SBTI personality and tell everyone in the circle of friends in a decent and non-obtrusive way that I have been diagnosed with a certain type of SB.

Not only the SBTI picture book, but also the entire testing process has that "hey, just playing" feeling of relaxation from head to toe.

What a wonderful mental state. Who hasn’t thought about the world with such pessimism and self-abandonment when they are frustrated?

At the end of the test, the web page will suddenly display a sentence: "You will not be released until you have selected everything. The world is chaotic enough, at least complete the questions." The ADHD person was directly caught and had to go back and finish the questions.

There is no seriousness from beginning to end. The SBTI test really allows netizens to experience the joy of finally being able to act openly and go crazy.

02

How do you find out your SBTI?

This turned out to be just a whole operation by a site B up owner to persuade his friends to stop drinking. The up owner Maggot Rou'er Chuan'er previously gained initial traffic accumulation at Station B by sharing his daily love affair with GPT.

The source code of SBTI is also open on GitHub. The entire code adds up to less than 2,000 lines, and the download is less than 1MB, which is smaller than a high-definition emoticon pack on your mobile phone.

The entire test mechanism is also very simple. First of all, the points for all question options are marked in advance: option A is 1 point, option B is 2 points, and option C is 3 points.

For example, the classic one: I am not only a diaosi, I am also a joker, I am still a salted fish..., if you choose option A "I cried..." you will get one point, and if you choose option C "This is not me!" you will get three points.

Next is to add up the scores. There are a total of 30 general questions in the test, and each two questions correspond to a personality dimension, for a total of 15 dimensions (such as "self-esteem and self-confidence", "sense of boundaries" and "execution ability"). The system will add the scores of the two questions in the same dimension to get the total score of this dimension.

Then assign a level label to each dimension based on the total score:

Total score ≤ 3 points → L (low)

Total score = 4 points → M (medium)

Total score ≥5 points → H (high)

In the end you will get a string consisting of 15 L/M/H, such as: HHH-HMH-MHH-HHH-MHM. The system has written standard strings for 25 personalities in advance.

For example, the standard string string of CTRL for naughty people is: HHH-HMH-MHH-HHH-MHM; the standard string string for Dior-s is: MHM-MMH-MHM-HMH-LHL.

The system will take the string you get after testing and compare it letter by letter with these 25 templates: no points will be deducted if the letters are the same; 1 point will be deducted if the letters are one level different (such as L and M, M and H); 2 points will be deducted if the letters are two levels different (such as L and H).

The fewer points you deduct, the more similar you are to this personality. The system will take the personality with the fewest points as your "main type".

It is such a simple mechanism, but it has achieved amazing communication effects.

By searching for SBTI terms on Google Trend, we can see that the spread started at 9:20 pm on April 9, and the search popularity reached its peak at 0:00 on April 10. It only took two hours and 40 minutes.

Even the test page crashed multiple times from the evening of April 9th to the early morning of April 10th due to a sudden surge in visits.

This morning, Su Xing also shared his SBTI test results - poor, and posted: "It's all gone, it's definitely not accurate. This is the first person on the Internet to say this about me."

In addition, celebrities such as Huang Xiaoming, Lan Yingying, and Hua Chenyu showed off their SBTI personalities, further confirming the popularity.

It can be said that in the true sense of the word, "a small thing can make a big difference" and "a small amount can make a big difference".

SBTI is a vibe coding product. It can be said that the emergence of vibe coding has amplified ordinary people's insights into public emotions, and it gives an ordinary individual the possibility to create phenomenal communication events.

Although the products of ordinary people's vibe coding are rough, although they have bugs, and although they are not perfect, they have emotions and attitudes, just like everyone has a friend around them who can complain, joke, and occasionally swear.

SBTI’s popularity may not last long. In another month, maybe everyone will forget about it and start chasing the next hot spot. But it's also inspiring.

The original intention of the Internet is to give ordinary people a place to express themselves and share themselves. The emergence of SBTI allows us to see the true nature of the Internet: fun, real, free, and full of humanity.
