Sony is conducting large-scale interface testing of the PlayStation Store on the PS5 platform. According to beta users who participated in the test, the new version of the store uses many new features such as larger image thumbnails, automatic playback of trailer videos, and tabbed browsing similar to Netflix. If this revision is eventually pushed to all users, it will become the largest interface reconstruction of the PS Store in the past five years.

PS5 store is about to receive a major visual overhaul, the interface will be more like Netflix

Recently, social platform user Gaming_bo3gg took the lead in exposing a screenshot of the new store’s “Browse” tab. Different from the current version's intensive display of "all games" grid layout, the new version of the interface has greatly reduced the number of games displayed on a single screen, instead using large horizontal recommendation cards to highlight a small number of selected works. Each card also comes with a brief introduction and style tags - for example, "Baldur's Gate 3" is labeled as "RPG", "turn-based combat", "stylized", "story-rich", "bright colors" and "3D", while "Starry Sky" has tags such as "open world", "RPG", "story-rich", "cinematic" and "space exploration".

This design idea clearly draws on Netflix’s interface logic, shifting from pursuing “information density” to focusing more on “curation sense” and an immersive browsing experience.

Under the recommendation card, the new version of the store also adds browsing sections classified by "mood" and "type". This is also a feature that Netflix tested with some beta users in the spring of 2025. At the same time, when the user highlights a game card with the cursor, the system will automatically start playing the trailer of the game (the default mode should be silent), further enhancing the dynamic feel of the page.

Currently, the structure of the original tabs such as "Latest Releases", "Selected Collections", "Offers" and "PlayStation Plus Related Information" have not changed.

It is reported that this experimental store interface is currently only open to some beta users of the PS5 platform, mainly in Europe and North America. Sony officials have not yet made any public statement about this revision, nor have they confirmed whether it will eventually be rolled out to all users.
