Recently, Musk’s X platform recently announced thatThe independent encrypted communication application XChat is scheduled to be launched globally on April 17. The first batch will be launched on the Apple App Store. The App Store in mainland China has opened reservations. The application supports a simplified Chinese interface, and users do not need to switch to other regions to operate it.

XChat is an independent iOS application. The installation package size is about 171.8MB to 175.8MB. The running requirement is iOS 16.0 and above. The application is suitable for users aged 17 and above. The specific launch time of the Android version has not yet been announced.

The application is developed in Rust language and focuses on end-to-end encrypted communication. It is officially claimed to be ad-free and does not track user data. It also has privacy features such as anti-screenshot, burn after reading, and two-way withdrawal.

The application supports group chats of up to 481 people, high-definition audio and video calls, and large file transfers. Premium paying users can enjoy file transfer permissions of up to 4GB, and can directly share X platform tweets and videos into conversations.

XChat does not require mobile phone number registration and can be directly bound to an X account to log in. It also integrates the Grok AI large model to provide AI-assisted functions such as file processing and itinerary planning in chat scenarios.

It should be noted that although the national app store can be downloaded by appointment, due to the network environment, ordinary domestic users cannot log in and use it directly. It is mainly targeted at international students, overseas Chinese and people with cross-border office needs.

In addition, Apple’s application privacy label shows that XChat will still collect location, contact and other related data, which is inconsistent with the official statement of “not tracking user data”.
