A piece of bad news came out of European football yesterday:Former Austria goalkeeper Alexander Manninger unfortunately passed away due to a serious traffic accident at the age of 48.As a player, he played for Arsenal, Juventus, Liverpool and other teams, and many clubs posted messages in memory of him. The accident occurred around 8:20 a.m. local time.The van driven by Manninger collided with a train at an unguarded railway crossing in Salzburg.
It is understood that none of the 25 passengers and the driver on the train were injured, but his vehicle was seriously damaged, the body was severely deformed, and all the air curtains were deployed. Rescuers were unable to save him after emergency rescue.
