Recently, during the live broadcast of the second stage of the 2026 NBPL Spring Split of "Eternal Calamity", the Chinese e-sports commentator "Chacha" appeared with his whole body painted in black, triggering accusations of "acting in bad faith" from Western media and audiences. However, there is an obvious misunderstanding of the cultural context behind this controversy.

Chacha appeared in the live broadcast wearing black skin from head to toe. After the clip was spread overseas, some viewers and the media immediately characterized it as "blackface" - an act considered racially offensive in Western culture. In their reports, foreign media such as Dexerto linked this incident to previous rumors that "the organizer forced Chacha to wear revealing clothes", implying that Chacha's darkening of his skin was a response to the controversy. But Chacha had previously clarified on Weibo that no one had ever forced her to wear inappropriate clothes and that wearing short skirts was her own choice.

In this regard, overseas players have helped explain. One player pointed out: "The only people who criticize her short skirts are nosy middle-aged women. Also, in other parts of the world, except for the West, 'blackface' does not exist as a form of racist expression." Another player said: "They don't have blackface shows in Asia. Blackface is a problem unique to the United States, and she is blacked up all over her body, including her clothes, so in my opinion it has nothing to do with mocking black people, it is just a style choice."

It can be seen from the live clips that Chacha deliberately made a "sneaky" sneaking action when he appeared on the stage, just to poke fun at the common phenomenon of players using this "little black" skin in order to "involve". Therefore, her blacked-out appearance is not a racial imitation, but a humorous imitation and tribute to the in-game "involution" culture among the Everlasting player community.
As of now, Chacha himself and the event organizer have not made any further response to this controversy.
