BYD is in talks to join a European auto lobbying group, Bloomberg reported, a move that would give the company a voice in Europe where it faces import tariffs on electric vehicles. In response to inquiries from Bloomberg, a spokesman for the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) confirmed that BYD has applied to join the association. The spokesman also said that no decision has been made on BYD's membership.

If successful, BYD will become the first Chinese automaker to join the organization. Website information shows that ACEA currently has 17 members, including Ford Motor Company of the United States and Honda Motor Company of Japan.
Currently, BYD is expanding into the European market. Executives of the company have previously stated that they will have about 1,000 sales outlets in Europe by the end of 2025, and plan to double that by the end of 2026. In addition, BYD is also building factories in Hungary and other countries.
