According to the latest reports from foreign media, Apple's upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series will undergo significant adjustments in body color. One of the red colors called "Dark Cherry" is regarded as this year's main iconic color, while the previously controversial "Cosmic Orange" has withdrawn from the stage of history.

The report quoted sources as saying that Apple seems to have given up on continuing to try the exaggerated orange scheme on the Pro models, and instead selected a darker cherry red with a calmer and stronger texture as one of the key promotional colors for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. British technology media Macworld said it obtained a complete color list said to come from the supply chain, which mentioned that the iPhone 18 Pro series will be available in four colors: dark cherry, light blue, dark gray and silver.
Judging from the overall composition, this color list is generally consistent with previous rumors that the iPhone 18 Pro will be mainly red. However, the latest statement shows that Apple ultimately retained only one dark cherry red in the red scheme, rather than multiple red versions of different shades. In addition, the silver version is described as similar to the silver of the current iPhone 17 Pro, while the light blue is described as similar to the current iPhone 17’s “Mist Blue” color.
Analysts believe that Apple's Pro model color matching strategy still revolves around "recognition" and "distinguishing": on the one hand, traditional basic colors such as silver will be used to satisfy users who prefer a low-key style; on the other hand, the annual main new color assumes the role of "distinguishing old and new models from a distance" to help consumers recognize the latest flagship machine at a glance in social scenes. Therefore, although it does not rule out the possibility of using some of the basic iPhone 17 colors on the Pro model, Apple's bigger consideration is still to provide enough "showing off capital" for the top model.
It is worth noting that dark cherries are not the first to appear in the apple ecosystem. As early as November 2025, Apple had low-key launched a batch of dark cherry color accessories on its official website and physical stores, including chargers, data cables, and protective cases. These accessories were supplied by multiple third-party manufacturers, but the color adjustments were highly unified and were considered to be the result of Apple's unified designation of color values. At that time, some people in the industry speculated that Apple might be preparing for the same color model for subsequent main hardware.
However, judging from the current situation, there are very few dark cherry accessories left on Apple’s official website. The report pointed out that except for a USB-C charging cable that is still on sale, most accessories of the same color are no longer listed. The reason is not yet clear. Whether the supplier voluntarily withdraws or Apple intends to streamline the product line, there is currently no public information. The USB-C charging cable, which is still available, comes in two different sizes and starts at $50.
If the above-mentioned news about the color matching of iPhone 18 Pro finally comes true, then from the continuous controversy of "Cosmic Orange" to the gradual takeover of dark cherry as the "signature color of the year", Apple's adjustments to the color strategy of high-end models will once again become a major focus of the new phone launch conference. The current relevant information still remains at the level of supply chain and media revelations, and Apple has not made any official response to the iPhone 18 Pro series body color.
