According to Korean media ETNews, citing supply chain sources, Apple plans to equip the new iPad mini and MacBook Pro with OLED displays this year. Compared with existing models that still use LCD with LED or mini-LED backlight, switching to OLED is expected to bring better picture quality performance, including more vivid colors, higher contrast and purer black display effects. Reports indicate that Samsung will provide OLED panels for the two devices mentioned above.

Currently, Apple’s iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad Pro series (excluding refurbished versions) have all adopted OLED displays, and display technology is gradually covering more product lines. For the next generation iPad mini, rumors say that in addition to introducing an OLED screen, it will be equipped with an A19 Pro or A20 Pro chip, equipped with a vibration-based speaker system, and adopt a body design with certain waterproof capabilities. According to existing news, Apple is likely to release this new product in September or October this year.
In terms of Mac products, the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro are also believed to introduce a number of hardware and interaction changes while upgrading to OLED screens. Relevant news said that the new phone will be equipped with M6 Pro and M6 Max chips, add a touch screen, and a Dynamic Island design similar to the iPhone, and will be further slimmed down and thinned overall. According to the schedule given by the supply chain, Apple plans to launch these two laptops around the end of 2026, but it does not rule out the possibility that the release time will be postponed to early 2027.
In addition, the same source also mentioned that the iPad Air is expected to receive an OLED screen upgrade next year, and Samsung Display is expected to begin mass production of related panels at the end of 2026 or around January next year for Apple to release a new generation of iPad Air in early 2027. This series of actions shows that Apple is accelerating the comprehensive promotion of OLED display technology in product lines such as iPad and Mac.
