Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its SmartThings smart home connectivity platform to support products from Swedish furniture giant IKEA. Samsung said in a press release that 25 new IKEA products, including wheel remote controls, smart lights, smart sockets and air quality sensors, are now compatible with the smart home connectivity standard Matter.
Matter is an open source, unified smart home standard that enables devices from different manufacturers, including Apple, Google and Samsung, to work seamlessly together.
Users can connect IKEA products to the SmartThings platform and integrate them with Samsung home appliances without additional setup.
The South Korean technology giant said it has partnered with IKEA to enhance the connection stability of the SmartThings platform.
