Apple announced,Tim Cook, who has been in charge of the company for nearly 15 years, will officially step down as CEO and become executive chairman of the company.Effective September 1, 2026, John Turners, Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, will succeed Cook as the new CEO.

Turners is a veteran of Apple's hardware department and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's mechanical engineering department. He joined Apple in 2001 and participated in the engineering design of the original iPod. He was a company veteran who met Steve Jobs. Since 2021, Turners has been responsible for all Apple hardware products, including iPhones, and is currently senior vice president of hardware engineering.

Cook issued a message in response to the resigning of Apple CEO:I want to thank you all for the love you have shown me, and for believing in me and supporting me in leading a company that has always put you at its core. This is not a farewell, but a hello to John.

Apple founder Steve Jobs once said that marketers cannot become CEOs: "Once the people responsible for sales and marketing occupy the management, the company will forget the original intention of producing good products, and even lose the awareness of helping customers, and such a company will no longer be successful."

Some analysts believe that Turners is more like a combination of Jobs and Cook - he understands both products and management. He can lead Apple on the right track and may be the key figure to boost the company.
