The Ningma Municipal (Suburban) Railway was officially opened for initial operation at 10 a.m. today. Nanjing and the central city of Ma'anshan are directly connected in 30 minutes, and the integrated urban life of Ningma is officially launched. This is the second cross-city subway in Nanjing, after Shanghai-Suzhou Line 11.The second inter-provincial subway in the country. The total length of the line is about 54.23 kilometers, with a total of 16 stations, 8 stations each in the Nanjing section and the Ma'anshan section. It starts from Nanjing Xishanqiao Station and ends at Ma'anshan Taibai Station, passing through Banqiao, Binjiang, Huashan, Yushan, Dangtu and other places.
The train uses urban B-type cars with a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour. After the opening, the operating mileage of Nanjing Metro will increase to 579 kilometers, and the total number of stations will reach 283.

As the first cross-provincial co-constructed and co-managed municipal railway in China, this line is jointly funded and jointly managed by Ningma and Ningxia. It is different from the Shanghai Line 11 model and provides a new example for the Yangtze River Delta to break administrative barriers and promote integration.
Behind the opening is the support of high-frequency cross-provincial demand. The daily passenger flow between the two places is about 12,000, and the vehicle flow is about 20,000. The average daily passenger flow of adjacent buses exceeds 5,000.
This project has been listed by Ma'anshan as the "No. 1 Project" to be integrated into the Nanjing Metropolitan Area since 2018. It will be included in the national planning and a co-construction agreement will be signed in 2020.
