According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, the selection of the first batch of foreign astronauts for the China Manned Space Engineering Project was successfully completed, and two Pakistani candidates were finally selected.In the near future, they will come to China to participate in training as reserve astronauts. After completing various trainings and passing the assessment,One of them will participate in the mission as a payload expert and become the first foreign astronaut to enter the Chinese space station.
According to the mission planning of the Chinese Space Station, Pakistani astronauts will be arranged to enter the Chinese Space Station together with Chinese astronauts to perform short-term missions in the next few years.
This cooperation originated from the aerospace cooperation agreement signed by China and Brazil in February 2025. It marks the first time that China has selected and trained astronauts for a foreign country and jointly performed space station missions. It is also an important step in the international operation of China's space station.
The two astronauts will receive systematic training, including cabin operations, emergency response, Chinese communication and joint experiments. The training will be carried out in full accordance with Chinese astronaut standards.
This is not only a milestone event in China-Brazil aerospace cooperation, but also means that the Chinese space station has officially opened to the world, laying the foundation for more countries to participate in space station cooperation and carry out space scientific research.
