It turns out that the joke is true... Recently, when the police destroyed a stock recommendation and virtual currency fraud den, they seized an internal "talk sheet".Surprisingly, in this guide for selecting targets, the first screening criterion is "the avatar is not a real person".

According to police disclosures, the amount involved in the fraud gang reached 5 million yuan. Before committing fraud, they will conduct precise screening through social account avatars: users who use real photos, life photos, and selfies will be marked as "easy targets" and included in key targets of attack; while users who use cartoons and two-dimensional avatars will be systematically excluded because they are "suspicious and have many things to do" and "have high communication costs."

One of the suspects involved in the case confessed: "Don't deceive people whose WeChat avatars are cartoons. They not only have a lot to do but are also poor. They are not worthy of 'killing pigs'."

It is generally believed within fraud organizations that such users usually have "limited financial capacity", little room for exploitation, high vigilance, and difficulty in deceiving, so they are listed as "highly difficult targets" and not worth the effort.

This also explains why many two-dimensional enthusiasts feel that they are "automatically filtered by fraudsters" - it is not that they are lucky, but that their avatars have become a "natural anti-fraud talisman."
