Apple today pushed two minor updates to iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 for iPhone and iPad users. This update comes just two weeks after the release of iOS 26.4.1 and iPadOS 26.4.1, and is mainly used to further improve system stability and security.

Currently, eligible iPhone and iPad devices can directly download and install this new version of the system online through the "Settings → General → Software Update" interface. According to Apple's statement in the release notes, this update contains several undisclosed bug fixes and security updates, aiming to improve the overall user experience and system protection capabilities.

In addition to launching iOS 26.4.2 and iPadOS 26.4.2 for the latest system devices, Apple also simultaneously released iOS 18.7.8 for older iPhone models that do not support upgrades to iOS 26, continuing to provide necessary security maintenance for users who are still stuck in the old system version.

While Apple continues to roll out minor version fixes and updates, Apple has begun testing iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 for developers and test users. According to the current pace, this new generation version is expected to be officially released to the public later in May, further bringing functional improvements and experience optimization to iPhone and iPad.
