On April 23, German automaker Porsche announced that it will launch sales of a pure electric version of the Cayenne Coupe at the end of this summer. This latest move once again shows that the car company is still optimistic about the market demand for electric vehicles. Although this pure electric Cayenne Coupe is called a "coupe", it actually still uses a four-door design. According to Porsche's product planning, the new car will be launched later this year together with several other pure electric Cayenne models, including the basic Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric, further expanding its electric SUV product lineup.

Judging from past market performance, Cayenne Coupe has been proven to have strong commercial potential. After Porsche first launched the fuel version of the Cayenne Coupe in 2019, in just one year, this more sporty crossover SUV version accounted for 20% of sales within the Cayenne model series. Five years later, the Coupe version's share of total Cayenne sales has risen to 40%; in some markets, this proportion is even as high as 90%. Against this background, even if the pure electric version of the Cayenne Coupe is priced in six figures, the market is still considered capable of undertaking it.
It is worth noting that the new model, officially named Cayenne Coupe Electric, will not replace the fuel or hybrid version like the Macan. According to Porsche, the pure electric Cayenne Coupe will still be sold in parallel with other powered versions after 2030. This strategy will not only help Porsche retain a wider range of consumer choices, but may also provide important data for its continued observation of whether consumers prefer fuel, hybrid or pure electric versions. The report mentioned that the additional front trunk space of pure electric models and fuel price factors may affect consumer decision-making.
However, it remains to be seen what the final market response will be. Only when the Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric, Cayenne Turbo Electric and Cayenne Coupe Electric officially go on sale globally later this year will the outside world be able to more clearly judge whether the pure electric Cayenne Coupe will become the most popular version of this series. According to reports, this launch comes about nine months after the electric car version made its debut.

In terms of specific configuration, Cayenne Coupe Electric will provide three versions, namely basic version, S Coupe version and Turbo Coupe version. In terms of selling price, the base version starts at US$113,800, plus a shipping fee of US$2,350; the Cayenne S Coupe Electric is priced at US$131,200, and the Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric is priced at US$168,000. Consumers can also further choose configurations such as lightweight sports packages, such as carbon fiber roofs, high-performance tires and more racing-style interior components, thereby pushing up the price of the vehicle.
In terms of performance, Porsche has provided quite radical parameters for this new car. All models are equipped with an 800-volt electrical architecture, air suspension and a shared roof design, and use a new front windshield and adaptive rear spoiler. The new car will also be equipped with the North American charging standard NACS interface, as well as additional AC charging ports.
Among them, the base version of the Cayenne Coupe Electric can output a maximum of 435 horsepower, 615 pound-feet of torque, a top speed of 143 miles per hour, and an acceleration time of 0 to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds. Users with higher performance requirements can also choose a stronger version. The flagship Turbo model has a maximum power of 1,139 horsepower and a peak torque of 1,106 pound-feet. Its performance level has entered the high-performance electric vehicle range of Tesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. This version has a top speed of 162 mph and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.
In terms of battery life, Porsche has not announced the official EPA battery life data of these pure electric Cayenne Coupes. However, early actual test results are generally consistent with other pure electric Cayenne models, with a single charge range of approximately 360 miles. The report also pointed out that if users choose larger tires, the cruising range may be reduced by about 10% due to increased rolling resistance and increased battery load.
