The "Beijing Unmanned Aircraft Management Regulations" will be implemented on May 1, 2026, which clarifies that the entire administrative area of Beijing is unmanned aircraft controlled airspace, and all outdoor flight activities require application. In addition, it was emphasized that unmanned aircraft and their core components are not allowed to be sold or leased to units and individuals within the administrative region of Beijing.
It is even prohibited to transport and carry unmanned aircraft and their core components into the administrative areas of Beijing, except for existing unmanned aircraft that have completed real-name registration and information verification, except those carried by the owner.
According to media reports, due to the impact of the policy, DJI drone products will be completely withdrawn from the Beijing market. Offline stores and e-commerce channels will be removed from the shelves before May 1. After May, drones will not be purchased or mailed in Beijing.
Users are most concerned about the risk of substantial failure of DJI care protection services. DJI care is the official replacement insurance of DJI. If the drone is damaged or lost, you can replace it with a new one at a low price. However, the SN code of the device will change after replacement, which is inconsistent with the information previously bound to the UOM civilian drone platform and the public security, resulting in the new drone being unable to enter Beijing.
DJI has not yet released an official solution. Customer service only recommends: Beijing users should go through the repair process after their equipment is damaged. After the repair is completed, it will be sent to an address outside Beijing, and then the user will bring it back by themselves. It cannot be sent directly back to Beijing.
Dealers reminded that existing drones that have completed real-name registration and bound SN codes before May 1 can be carried in and out of Beijing, but if they are completely damaged, they cannot be replaced with new ones, and the existing drones will become "non-renewable assets."
