Sony explained the reason for the price increase in an official announcement: "Facing continued pressure from the global economic situation, we have decided to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal remote control game consoles globally. We are well aware that price changes will affect the player base, but after careful evaluation, we believe this is a necessary step to ensure that we can continue to provide innovative and high-quality gaming experiences to players around the world."

It is worth noting that Sony had already raised the price of PS5 products in other regions on April 2 this year. At that time, Hong Kong did not participate in the first round of price adjustments. This Hong Kong version price adjustment can be seen as a complement and follow-up to the global price increase strategy.
