Samsung is said to be developing a wider foldable phone that is expected to debut later this year, and the latest leaked information may show the outline of the product in advance. Whistleblower and reporter Sonny Dickson recently shared a set of pictures on social platforms that are said to be Samsung's next-generation Galaxy foldable phone models, including a model called "Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide". Judging from the exposure, this device adopts a passport-like body design. The outside world believes that its target is directed at Huawei's Pura X Max and Apple's long-rumored foldable iPhone.

Judging from the leaked model, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide rear lens module may use a dual-camera solution, which is smaller than the common three-camera configuration of other Samsung Z Fold models. At the same time, the three exposed models all have a more eye-catching ring structure, which is interpreted as possibly supporting Qi2 wireless charging; if true, this will be the first configuration in Samsung’s mobile phone product line. This change also means that the Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to more directly compete with the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold that supports Qi2 at the functional level, as well as the Huawei Pura X Max, which was just released in the Chinese market last week and became the first wide-format folding machine that is truly on the market.

Dickson also said that the Z Fold 8 Wide's body size is closer to the expected foldable iPhone, which further echoes previous market rumors that Samsung's wide folding machine will be similar in size to Apple's future folding phone. However, it is still difficult for the outside world to obtain more hardware details based on the leaked model pictures. The greater value of these pictures at this stage is that they allow people to compare the machine side by side with Samsung's existing folding products, so as to more intuitively judge the differences in body proportions and product positioning.
The report also pointed out that the market still needs to wait for Samsung's official release to confirm whether this "Z Fold 8 Wide" will actually enter the mass production and launch stage. The outside world hopes that if this new phone is finally released, it can avoid repeating the short life cycle of Samsung's previous "three-fold" attempt and gain more lasting development space in the market.
