Apple CEO Tim Cook recently appeared in Washington. While U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed King Charles III of the United Kingdom at the White House, he visited the White House and met with U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, which attracted attention from the outside world. This is the first state visit to the United States by Charles III and Queen Camilla since they took office. The two parties held a grand welcome ceremony at the White House, including a public welcome session, crowd greetings, Trump's welcome speech, a speech to the U.S. Congress, and a series of traditional ceremonial activities such as a state banquet.

The U.S. Department of Commerce announced Cook’s visit to Washington, D.C. through social platforms and released a photo of Lutnick’s meeting with Cook. In the accompanying article, Lutnick spoke highly of Cook's leadership of Apple over the years, saying that with his extraordinary vision, rigorous management and continuous innovation, he has led Apple to become one of the most representative technology companies in the United States, and praised his "excellent leadership and lasting contribution" to the U.S. technology industry. The report pointed out that Cook will still serve as Apple's CEO until September this year, and is currently regarded as a stop on his "farewell tour."
Photos taken by the Associated Press and published by The Times Herald show Cook arriving at the White House before Trump's meeting with the British royal family. In the picture, he was wearing a suit, blue shirt and dark blue tie, holding an opened umbrella, and walked into the venue outside the White House. It is unclear whether Cook attended the state dinner that night, but considering that he visited the White House frequently during the Trump administration and attended many formal dinners, public opinion generally believed that his absence was unusual.

After the White House event, King Charles III also attended a garden reception at the British Embassy in Washington to continue his visit to the United States. The outside world generally believes that large-scale state events gather important figures in American politics and business circles, and Cook, as the head of Apple who is still in office, attends such occasions and continues his practice of maintaining close communication with political figures from various countries.
The report also reviewed previous interactions between Cook and Charles III. In December 2024, Charles visited Apple's office park in Battersea Power Station, London, and communicated with Apple employees, students and representatives of the British creative industry. One of the highlights of this visit was to recognize Apple’s cooperation with “The King’s Trust” (The King’s Trust), an organization dedicated to helping young people in the UK improve their employability skills or entrepreneurial abilities.
In addition to meeting Cook, another important link between Charles III and Apple is Jony Ive, Apple’s former chief designer. Ive designed the royal emblem for Charles' coronation, and also designed a special seal for his sustainable development project "Astra Carta", symbolizing the project's vision and recognition in the fields of space and environmental protection. This series of cooperation is seen as a symbol of the British royal family's increasingly close ties with the technology and creative industries. Cook's appearance at the White House during Charles' visit to the United States further highlights Apple's political and social influence on the international stage.
