On April 30, US technology website MacRumors reported that Apple had basically given up on the product after the M5 chip version of the Vision Pro failed to rekindle market interest in the device. Apple updated Vision Pro in October 2025. The main changes were a faster M5 chip and a more comfortable headband, but other than that there were no other hardware changes, and consumers still have little interest in the product.

Apple is reported to have stopped development of Vision Pro.The original team has been reassigned to other teams within the company. Some former Vision Pro team members are currently working on Siri, which is not surprising since Vision Pro head Mike Rockwell has been leading the Siri team since March 2025.
It is reported that Apple had planned to launch a lighter and much cheaper Vision Air, but the project was halted last year.If Apple can find a way to create a lower-priced and more comfortable VR headset in the future, the Vision Pro product line may still be restarted. But for now, the company has no plans to launch new models. Apple has not discontinued the Vision Pro, and the M5 chip version continues to be sold.
Apple is not continuing to experiment in the field of virtual reality, but is developing smart glasses that will eventually incorporate augmented reality capabilities, but the first version will be similar to the smart glasses collaborated by Ray-Ban and Meta, with AI capabilities but without an integrated display.
