For two Chinese technology giants, Byte and Alibaba, Time magazine highlighted their achievements in the field of AI in addition to their hugely successful existing businesses.
Regarding ByteDance, "Times" commented that,The foundation of ByteDance's business empire is still Douyin, which has about 770 million monthly active users, but what better reflects the company's future direction is the AI assistant "Doubao".Its weekly active users have exceeded 155 million, and the number of single-day active users exceeded 100 million during the Spring Festival in February this year, making China one of the first countries in the world to achieve large-scale popularization of AI assistants.
The reason why Alibaba is on the list is thatIn less than three years, it has become “one of the core forces in global open source AI”.
"Times" stated that Alibaba's "Qianwen" series of models have been downloaded more than 1 billion times and have spawned more than 200,000 derivative models. Its influence has long exceeded the Chinese market and has become one of the most popular open source model families in the world. "Times" further stated that Chinese technology giants are trying to build their open source model leadership into a full-stack AI empire.
Zhipu’s inclusion on the list is not only related to the fact that it is the “first large model stock in the world”, but also related to the mutual achievements of China’s cutting-edge large models and China’s domestic computing power platform. This year, the company launched its flagship open source large model GLM-5 and the image generation model GLM-Image, which is completely built based on the entire process of Shengteng equipment. Among them, GLM-5 can compete with the flagship large models of Google, OpenAI and Anthropic in multiple benchmark tests.
"Times" commented,Zhipu’s results show that Chinese AI developers can compete on the cutting edge without relying on any Western technology.
