On May 3, Business Insider reported that after a fierce confrontation in court this week, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman made an unexpected gesture to his rival Elon Musk on Saturday, even if it was not a wholehearted gesture.

Ultraman and Musk

OpenAI plans to hold a small celebration on May 5 for the release of its latest model, GPT-5.5. Altman shared an online form for interested participants to reply and confirm, and said that OpenAI's programming agent Codex will assist the company in selecting participants from the responses. Registration closed soon, and Ultraman later said that he would plan a larger party in the future.

It’s unlikely that Musk would sign up personally for these limited invitations. However, when a netizen named X asked whether Musk would come uninvited, Altman replied that the former OpenAI co-founder "can come if he wants to."

"The world needs more love," Altman added.

Altman says Musk can come

Currently, Musk and Altman are in court. This week, Musk’s lawsuit against Altman for betraying OpenAI’s founding mission began. Musk testified that Altman had pledged to keep OpenAI non-profit but sought to transform it into a for-profit company, stealing a charity.

Just days before Altman released this "goodwill," U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who is presiding over the legal dispute between the two parties, warned Altman and Musk to "control their impulse to post on social media and not let the situation worsen outside the court."
