WindowsCopilot isn’t the only artificial intelligence feature in Windows 11. Microsoft is testing at least one artificial intelligence-driven feature that could revolutionize how users interact with their desktop, according to an internal document. It's the tech giant's latest effort to make the desktop more interactive.
It’s no secret that Microsoft is betting big on artificial intelligence. From Bing to Microsoft Edge to Azure and now Windows 11, all products are moving towards an AI-centric future.
Another new feature aims to make desktop backgrounds look more vivid by adjusting depth perception, so that some wallpapers appear to pop out when the user moves the cursor or device. The background may move when you move your device or interact with the screen using your mouse.
A future update to Windows 11 may add a "parallax effect" to the desktop background, where the wallpaper image moves slower than the screen content. This effect is often seen in modern web pages, and it provides a captivating illusion of depth that makes the user interface feel more alive.
Microsoft is internally testing a new way to personalize desktop backgrounds. It's worth noting, though, that some upcoming AI features may only work on modern hardware. For example, the "AI Depth Wallpaper" feature should work better on devices with appropriate sensors to detect movement. It's not limited to tablets, though, as the feature can also be accessed via cursor/mouse movement.
That’s not all. The AI depth wallpaper feature is not the end of Microsoft’s investment in artificial intelligence in Windows. For example, one of the latest updates to the Windows 11 Store is the addition of a new AIHub, a section powered by artificial intelligence that highlights apps powered by artificial intelligence in some way.
Reviews are also powered by artificial intelligence. In the new version of the App Store released earlier this month, Microsoft added a new "AI Reviews" section, which aggregates all reviews to highlight user opinions. Users can rely on the app store's AI reviews to judge an app's quality without having to read detailed reviews.
It is reported that Microsoft is testing artificial intelligence in the drawing application, and the classic graphics editor will gain BingAI’s image generation function.
