Amazon announced on Monday that it will fully open its global logistics network to all types of enterprises and launch a new service "Amazon Supply Chain Services". This move will allow the e-commerce giant to compete directly with traditional logistics giants such as UPS and FedEx in the field of supply chain and logistics.

The new service will open Amazon’s capabilities in freight, distribution, fulfillment (warehousing and order fulfillment), and package shipping to businesses of all types and sizes, including healthcare, automotive, manufacturing, and retail. Through this step, Amazon has upgraded the supply chain infrastructure that has long served tens of thousands of third-party sellers on the platform to a universal logistics service for all enterprises, opening up a new growth channel for its e-commerce business.

Peter Larsen, vice president of Amazon Supply Chain Services, said in a blog post that Amazon is bringing its "infrastructure, intelligent capabilities and scale that have been proven for decades in the supply chain field to all types of enterprises around the world, just like Amazon Web Services did to cloud computing." This statement highlights Amazon's strategic intention: after cloud computing, supply chain and logistics infrastructure are expected to become another external export platform business of the company. Amazon also revealed that several large brands, including Procter & Gamble, 3M, Lands’ End and American Eagle Outfitters, have signed up to use this supply chain service.
