Nintendo recently announced that it will launch a new Nintendo Switch 2 bundle in June this year, priced at US$499. Users who purchase this bundle can choose a download code for any of the three games "Mario Kart: World", "Pokémon: Power Up" and "Pokémon Pokopia".
Starting from September 1 this year, the basic version of Switch 2 will increase from US$449 to US$499. The new bundle was launched on the eve of the price increase, which is actually equivalent to an additional game at the price of the future basic version.
Among the three optional games, "Mario Kart: World" retails for US$79.99, and users who choose this game are equivalent to saving about US$30; the other two games are both priced at US$69.99, and the savings are slightly smaller, but still attractive.
It is worth noting that "Pokémon Pokopia" was released in February this year, and its current sales have exceeded 4 million copies, ranking among the top three sales on the Switch2 platform, surpassing "Kirby's Skylanders" and "Pokémon Legends Z-A" and other works.
This price increase is affected by multiple factors such as the global memory shortage. Previously, PlayStation and Xbox had taken similar price adjustment measures. Last year, Nintendo raised the prices of many Switch 2 peripherals due to U.S. tariff policies, but the price of the main console has remained unchanged. This situation is about to change.
Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said that the company hopes to enhance the "ownership value" of Switch 2 by strengthening its software lineup. Currently, Switch 2 plans to launch at least three first-party exclusive works before the end of July. In addition, there are industry rumors that the remake of "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" is expected to be released in 2026.
Nintendo has not announced further details about the bundle, but it is expected to be revealed as June approaches.
