The Low Altitude Safety Department, a new internal organization of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, was officially unveiled, marking the new layout of domestic low-altitude field management. According to the website of the Civil Aviation Administration of China, the responsibilities of the Low Altitude Safety Department include:Drafting a low-altitude civil aviation development plan, coordinating low-altitude safety and development, and building a low-altitude flight service dispatch platform and low-altitude flight service station system.

In recent years, low-altitude flight, drone navigation, low-altitude cultural tourism, urban air travel and other industries have emerged rapidly, and the industry is becoming more and more popular. However, there are also problems such as scattered supervision, chaotic flight order, and many safety hazards.

The formal establishment of the Low-Altitude Safety Department means that the domestic low-altitude field now has a dedicated department in charge, and its powers and responsibilities are clearer. In the future, low-altitude flight rules, airspace use, flight dispatch, and safety management and control will all usher in unified standards, which will not only maintain the bottom line of safety, but also give greater room for development to industries such as general aviation, drones, and low-altitude travel.

With the implementation of the new institution, subsequent policies and plans related to the low-altitude economy may be introduced at an accelerated pace, and the entire industry will move towards a standardized and institutionalized development path.
