Regulatory images of what appears to be Microsoft’s Xbox Elite Series 3 wireless controller have recently been revealed, and are widely seen as the successor to the existing Elite 2 elite controller. This leak appears after the previously revealed Xbox cloud gaming compact controller, also from the Brazilian technology media Technoblog. The outside world believes that this series of products highlights Microsoft’s accelerating pace in the layout of cloud gaming accessories.
According to leaked documents, the Elite 3 controller will add a "cloud mode" specifically for cloud gaming, further enhancing its adaptability in Xbox Cloud Gaming scenarios. The report speculates that according to Microsoft's past hardware release schedule, this high-end controller is likely to be unveiled together with the next-generation Xbox "Helix" game console, but there is currently no official release schedule.
Judging from the regulatory pictures shared by Technoblog, the overall structure of Elite 3 continues the classic elite handle idea of Elite 2: retaining replaceable joysticks and direction keys (D-Pad), as well as high-end configurations such as adjustable travel, replaceable trigger keys and back paddles. The difference is that the new design seems to have greatly enhanced "tool-free customization", especially the installation position of the pick on the inside of the grip has been significantly adjusted.
According to reports, Elite 3’s inner paddle fixing point has been moved closer to the center of the handle to leave more space to support paddle arrangements of different lengths and shapes, making it easier for players to deeply customize according to their hand shape and button preferences. In addition, two new roller dials are added between the bottom edges of the two grips of the handle, which are speculated to be related to the tension and key travel adjustment of the rocker or back paddle, allowing players to fine-tune the feel of the keys more quickly.
In terms of connection and performance specifications, Elite 3 is consistent with the previously leaked cloud gaming compact controller. Both support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth dual-mode wireless connections to take into account multi-platform scenarios such as consoles, PCs and mobile devices. The built-in battery capacity is 1528 mAh, which is larger than the ordinary handle. It is designed to extend the battery life as much as possible while maintaining high-performance wireless connection and rich customization functions.
Based on the existing information, Xbox Elite Series 3 will still be positioned as a high-end customizable controller product line for core and e-sports players. While retaining the features of Elite 2, it will further enhance modularity, customized operating feel and cloud gaming support.
