The Hungarian government announced that it will launch a strict investigation into serious violations during the construction of the BYD Automobile Plant in Szeged. Previously, the Chongrad-Chonad state government office discovered major problems during relevant inspections and reported them to the police. According to initial suspicion, the soil excavated during the construction process was spread randomly to the surrounding area without completing statutory testing.

According to past monitoring results, there is a possibility that part of the soil layer spread on Szeged's farmland may contain alkylbenzene pollutants that are considered carcinogens. In view of the seriousness of the situation, Szeged Member of Parliament Stump Peter gave a detailed explanation of the current situation to the public and formally sent a letter to the Minister of Rural and Urban Development Lorinz Victoria, requesting him to take immediate action to effectively safeguard the health and safety of local residents.

After receiving relevant notifications, Rural and Urban Development Minister Lorinz Victoria decided to immediately launch an urgent and rigorous investigation process. The goal of the investigation is, on the one hand, to find out the actual degree of local soil pollution as soon as possible, and on the other hand, to clarify whether there was negligence in the supervision process or even dereliction of duty that needs to be held accountable.

Lorinz Victoria emphasized that in a country that emphasizes humanity and dignity, the competent authorities have the responsibility to act with the utmost caution and fulfill their obligations to protect the health of citizens. She pointed out that in the face of potential risks of industrial pollution, the country must use all available means to prevent harmful substances from causing damage to residents' living environment and long-term health. She also said that this investigation surrounding the construction of the BYD factory in Szeged will be carried out on the principles of openness, transparency, professionalism and prudence, and relevant conclusions will provide the basis for subsequent legal and administrative measures.
