On May 21, a ByteDance employee posted on a social platform that he was forced to a physical and mental breakdown by the PUA words of company leaders and HR, and decided to jump off the building in the Byte work area. Furthermore, the employee was diagnosed with severe depression. The employee said that the company wanted to lay off him on the grounds that another business needed HC, but in order not to compensate n+1, the company wanted to use PUA tactics to make him voluntarily resign.

But at this time, the employee had already taken sick leave, and HR, who was originally responsible for dissuading employees to resign, was dissuaded by the company.

Subsequently, the company changed another HR to communicate with the employee about layoffs. The employee revealed that the HR had said to him, "The company's legal affairs judge that your depression is not serious", "The company is too big to take into account specific individuals", "The company will deactivate your Feishu account, and will not pay you salary until the last day. Paying you five insurances and one housing fund is already an additional cost" and so on...

In response, many Byte colleagues advised him not to commit suicide in the comment area and encouraged him to bravely face difficulties in the workplace.

As of now, Byte has not responded to this matter.
