Today, IMAX and AMC Theaters announced the duration of Christopher Nolan's new film "The Odyssey" - 2 hours and 53 minutes. This length of time has now been removed from both websites, but IGN reported that it had been clearly displayed before. The end credits may take up 5-10 minutes, but regardless, that length would make "The Odyssey" Nolan's second-longest film, behind "Oppenheimer" which was exactly three hours. Interstellar (2 hours, 49 minutes) and The Dark Knight Rises (2 hours, 45 minutes) follow closely behind.

The length of Nolan's controversial new film

Nolan has always tried to keep his movies under three hours, as he prefers to shoot on IMAX film. The tray that physically carries the film cannot hold more than three hours of content. Nolan once worked with IMAX to lengthen the tray to barely fit "Oppenheimer." "Odyssey" will push this limit again.

Despite the popularity of "The Odyssey", the film has also been involved in a lot of controversy, especially the "modern diverse casting" - black actor Lupita Nyong'o played Helen and her sister Clytemnestra. However, Nolan once responded: "I hope the audience likes this movie, even if they don't completely agree. When we made "Interstellar", there were a lot of scientists who complained. But you can't make people feel that you are taking it lightly."
