Su Zifeng predicted that the CPU market will grow significantly in the next five years when attending an AI forum in Taipei, China on Friday. She said that no one in the industry expected such a surge in demand amid the global race to build AI infrastructure.
"In the past three or four years, the CPU market has not grown very fast, with an annual growth rate of only about 3% to 4%, and all the focus has been on GPUs," said Su Zifeng. "But as AI inference and agent AI really start to accelerate, the CPU market will continue to grow significantly. In the next five years, we expect the CPU market to grow by more than 35% every year, and this is an area with very strong demand."
Before heading to Taipei, China, Su Zifeng had just finished her trip in mainland China. She acknowledged that local semiconductor companies in mainland China are making rapid progress.
"I think mainland China will continue to be a very important market for us... We have a lot of business in many different fields in mainland China, including the personal computer field, the gaming field, and some data center fields." Su Zifeng told reporters.
