GNOME Commander is the traditional file manager for the GNOME desktop, inspired by Norton Commander and now rewritten in the Rust programming language and also using the GTK4 toolkit. GNOME Commander was originally written in C++, but with this week's release of GNOME Commander 2.0, it is now mostly composed of Rust code and is transitioning to using the GTK4 toolkit.
GNOME Commander 2.0 also adds an embedded terminal to display the output of commands run by GNOME Commander, redesigns the quick search feature, improves the search dialog, enhances the internal viewer, improves accessibility, and enhances the keyboard shortcuts dialog.
GNOME Commander 2.0 also brings improved Wayland support and other modern improvements.
The GNOME Commander 2.0 file manager version can be downloaded via GitHub, and more details can be found here.
