If you like chess, Opera has a new product for you to try. The company has partnered with Chess.com to create a customized version of its browser OperaOne. The Chess.com icon will be displayed in the left sidebar of the web browser. Click it to start the game. You can play against real players online or test your skills against the computer. The sidebar panel also features lessons, puzzles, news, and other content from Chess.com.
Opera says it has created a customized version of Chess for its desktop browser and Opera for Android. The custom browser comes with a few other changes, like a chess-themed wallpaper on the start page, as well as standard features like AriaAI, Messenger and WhatsApp integration.
Official introduction:
Our new desktop chess-specific browser sidebar integrates with Chess.com, so you're just a click away from puzzles, streaming, or quick blitz games. The intuitive user interface makes it easier than ever to change board settings, communicate with opponents and view tutorial content - all without opening another tab or moving away from the content on the screen.
You can also pin the sidebar panel while playing chess in your browser. This way you can follow the game while browsing the website or watching a video. On Android, Opera offers a chess-themed custom cache, with a home page featuring speed dials from Chess TV, videos, and articles from Chess.com.
Please note that the Chess.com integration requires an active internet connection in order to play against real players and bots.
