European Commission President von der Leyen said on the 29th that the EU will unfreeze 16.4 billion euros of EU funds belonging to Hungary. Von der Leyen said at a joint press conference after talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Maudjour Peter that the 16.4 billion euros include 10 billion euros from the "Next Generation EU" plan, 4.2 billion euros related to the conditions of the Cohesion Fund, and 2.2 billion euros released due to Hungary's progress in the autonomy of universities.

Von der Leyen said that the new Hungarian government and the European Commission have reached an agreement on addressing corruption and rule of law issues. Hungary has decided to join the European Prosecutor's Office to ensure the security of EU funds, and at the same time agreed to strengthen the power of the integrity agency and amend the public procurement law.
Maudjoer said that this fund is equivalent to about 13% of the Hungarian government’s annual budget and will be used to support small and medium-sized enterprises, transportation, medical care, education, energy infrastructure and digital technology development and other fields.
The Tisza Party led by Mauzyar won an overwhelming victory in the Hungarian parliamentary election held on April 12, winning 141 seats in the 199-seat National Assembly and winning a two-thirds majority. When elaborating on future reform plans on April 13, Mao Jiaor said that one of the new government's top economic tasks is to unfreeze about 20 billion euros of EU funds.
