The famous Hong Kong actor Liu Xun passed away at the age of 87. Liu Xun is deeply involved in opera teaching and film and television performances. He has participated in films such as "The Swordsman", "Nine Levels of Sesame", "A Chinese Ghost Story", and the "Once Upon a Time" series, leaving a classic film and television image.

Liu Xun, a senior Hong Kong actor and opera master, is known as the "Tathagata with a Thousand Faces". He entered the Peking Opera class at the age of six and studied under Li Wanchun, Shang Heyu and many other famous masters, and has a profound foundation in opera skills. In 1958, he joined the Peking Opera Company of China and taught. In 1980, he went to Hong Kong to develop and teach at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has been deeply involved in the research and teaching of Cantonese opera. Many famous actors such as Luo Jiaying and You Shengpu have been mentored by him.
In 1986, he came into contact with the film industry by serving as the opera director for Tsui Hark's film "Dao Ma Dan". The following year, he starred in his first film "Zombie Supreme". With his profound opera skills, he has created many unforgettable supporting roles in nearly 100 films directed by Tsui Hark and others. Whether it is the sinister Gu Jinfu in "The Swordsman", Huang Qiying who is both a scholar and a knight in the "Once Upon a Time" series, or the evil Jia Ting in "New Dragon Gate Inn", he can control both good and evil, loyal and traitor, and perform civil and military roles with ease, which can be called "a thousand faces".
