The Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security stated on social media that it has received relevant reports, the cause is unclear at this time, and it does not believe that there is any public safety threat.

It is reported that the loud noise occurred at approximately 14:11 that day. Satellite data showed the meteor entered the atmosphere over the South Shore area near Boston. There are currently no reports of where the meteor landed.
