Meta is developing an artificial intelligence-powered pendant and plans to start testing it next year, according to a memo seen by The Information. The device is likely based on Limitless’ research. Limitless is an artificial intelligence device startup that was acquired by Meta at the end of 2025.
The startup has developed an AI pendant that users can pin to their shirts or wear as a necklace to record conversations. At the time, Meta said the acquisition would allow it to "accelerate the development of artificial intelligence wearables."
Early AI wearables failed to gain traction with consumers—perhaps because of privacy concerns and ill-timed marketing, or perhaps because they were inherently impractical. But companies like OpenAI aren't giving up.
The memo also reportedly states that the company plans to expand its line of AI-powered glasses and launch an enterprise subscription service called "Wearables for Work." With these planned devices, Meta is clearly hoping to turn around its hardware-focused Reality Labs unit, which lost $4 billion in the first quarter of this year.
