According to the official blog of Google Japan, Google will open its first physical Google Store outside the United States in Tokyo this summer, located in the Omotesando business district, further highlighting the strategic position of the Japanese market in its hardware business. When this new store opens, it will become Google's 11th physical retail store in the world and its first flagship store outside the United States.

According to reports, the new store will be located on the first floor of the Omokado Tokyu Plaza building in Omotesando, Tokyo. The mall is mainly focused on high-end fashion brands, showing Google's intention to "heavily stock" offline experience and brand image building in the local market. Japan has become an important growth point for Google’s hardware business in recent years. In particular, the Pixel series of mobile phones have performed well in local sales. Even though its overall market share in the world is still limited, Japan is still regarded as a key growth position.

The store renderings released by Google show that the Omotesando store follows the consistent design language of the Google Store and incorporates strong Japanese elements. The exterior of the store adopts Japanese-style designs such as wooden grilles, and the street corner location also draws on the three-dimensional visual effect of Shinjuku’s famous 3D cat screen, except that the words “Coming soon” are currently used as placeholder information on the screen.

In terms of products and services, Google Store Omotesando will focus on displaying Google’s latest Pixel series devices and other hardware products, and provide on-site technical support and after-sales services. In addition to purchasing a variety of official peripherals and limited products, consumers also have the opportunity to buy exclusive colors for specific models, such as the previously rumored Pixel 10a Japan-limited blue model.

The new store will also undertake offline experience and user education functions. The store plans to conduct regular workshop activities to provide existing Pixel and Fitbit users with face-to-face guidance such as usage tips and product optimization suggestions. In addition, in the future, after users place an order on the official Google Store Japan website, they can also choose to pick up the order at the store, further connecting online e-commerce and offline experiences.

From location selection to format design, Google Store Omotesando is positioned as Google's flagship store outside the United States, which not only serves local consumers, but also releases a signal to the world that it will continue to increase its hardware business and retail network expansion. As the official opening this summer approaches, Omotesando, the core business district of Tokyo, will also welcome a new landmark that combines technological experience and local cultural symbols.
