Sony may be setting up a new internal studio, formed by former DeviationGames creators. DeviationGames was established by several senior developers who had developed "Call of Duty", "Battlefield", "Titanfall" and "Apex Legends". The previous financial owner was Sony, but due to various reasons, Sony reduced its investment in the studio.

The news comes from tipster Zuby_Tech, who noticed that several former DeviationGames employees have updated their resumes, showing that they have rejoined SIE.

Former DeviationGames design director Fred Thompson's LinkedIn bio mentions that he "will lead design efforts for an unannounced game":

In addition, game designer JC Backfire recently announced via Twitter that he is working for Jason Blundell. Blundell co-founded DeviationGames before this year, but ultimately left in 2022.

Jason Blundell has participated in the development of Activision's "Call of Duty" series, including campaign mode and zombies mode. Zombies mode is the highlight of the series, and "Call of Duty" series general manager Johanna Faries recently said that the new transformation of Zombies mode in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3" is "the best-rated third mode in ten years."

There is speculation that Sony may be forming a similar team. In addition to former employees of Deviation Games, Jason Blundell will be an important addition to the plan.

DeviationGames was one of the earlier studios to make large-scale layoffs in 2023. The studio laid off as many as 90 employees, but no official statement has been made.
